About
Mal Moll brings Mediterranean and Gozitan-inspired dining to Munxar, a peaceful village in the south of Gozo known for its rural charm and proximity to the dramatic cliffs and coastal views around Xlendi. The restaurant has become a popular choice for those seeking quality food in a relaxed setting, away from the busier tourist areas of the island. The menu draws inspiration from Mediterranean cuisine while incorporating local Gozitan influences, showcasing fresh seasonal ingredients, seafood, meat dishes, homemade pasta, and carefully prepared vegetarian options. Traditional flavours sit comfortably alongside contemporary dishes, creating a menu that appeals to both locals and visitors exploring Gozo. A selection of wines and drinks complements the food, making it equally suited to long lunches and evening meals.

We had a lovely night yesterday night for our 2nd year anniversary. The fish was so fresh and super delicious. The wine also, and especially special thanks to your waiter’s attitude.. all of them was super kind and made it special. 😇 I’d always come back

Such a cozy place with breathtaking views of the harbor and the cliffs. The service is truly 5+, absolutely outstanding!!! The food is delicious, and there’s a great selection of local wines. I would love to thank you once again for the incredible hospitality — it alone is a reason to come back! In fact, it made me stay much longer than I originally planned for just a quick lunch. Thank you again, and I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Food: quite good, all the food was well prepared, tasty and well presented. The portion on the dessert was on the large side but I can't complain about that lol. They're going for a fine dining vibe and honestly I think they're there food wise. Service: varied, one waiter pours his heart into the service and goes the extra mile, like Richie in the Bear season 3. His colleague is either very focussed or angry. That might be because some confusion which I'll go into later for context. Anyway they need to learn that honesty trumps lies. Making mistakes happens, but coming up with endless excuses just turns the whole thing into a farce. It also creates the wrong expectations. We just wanted a nice meal lol. One more funny thing was that when I asked what was in the cocktail, he said it's a secret, which, fair enough. But then when I ordered a glass of red wine it was also a secret lol. There's coy and then there's suspicious. But he did bring the bottle for my vivino app when I insisted. Still, I'll not soon forget this experience. Atmosphere: it's Christmas time, there's a nice tree and I do like the interior along the walls. Only improvement would be the ceiling which is bare bones and brown paint. But overall atmosphere was nice and cosym nice tables, chairs. Croquery was on the fancier side too, classic fine dining plates. I do miss a place to hang my coat. And there seems to be no backdoor. At 3 times during the dinner I saw kitchen staff walking through the front of house with ingredients haha. It's fine, you work with what you have I guess. But if you want fine dining you'll have to figure a way around that. It's fine when you only have one table but with a full house it might get chaotic. Story time! We got recommended rhis place, looked it up and found the website. The website mentions festive menues and they look great. So we booked a table for Christmas eve (24 dec, yesterday). when we got to our table yesterday, we found out it was only a la carte and the festive menu was for Christmas day. Ok, it's Christmas eve, we decided to order cocktails. There's a fully stocked bar and capable bartender. But cocktails are not available tonight. Ok moving on. Only 2 dishes are unavailable, the rest is fine. I order the ribeye with truffle mash as main, but there's no mash available. At that point it strikes me that it's a better idea to come back tomorrow and have the festive menu, so we book for the next day and go home. On Christmas day, the same waiters greet us, one is as cordial as ever, the other seems pussed with us :| Turns out the website has outdated menus and we should have checked Facebook or Instagram but ok. We still had a nice night with some complementary digestifs. I'll conclude by saying this place has a lot of potential, the food is there and once they get their story straight people will come from all.over Gozo
