About Sottovento Restaurant and Pizzeria

Sottovento Restaurant and Pizzeria was established in the tranquil city of Birgu. The restaurant invites you to enjoy Italian and Mediterranean cuisines.

From perfectly cooked ravioli or spaghetti marinara as a starter and on to the specialty of Sottovento - grilled swordfish. Finish up your dinner with an ice cream which is the unique characteristic of Sottovento. Here you can also degustate delicious house wine, white wine or beer and a great espresso too.

Sottovento is famous for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to serve you.

HIGHLY NOT recommended for a Sunday lunch. First impression, over booked and understaffed for the venue. Our starters came 1hr and 30mins after we ordered. Drinks were ordered and not given. Toilets were not hygienic and flushing was not working. We were a table of 6 where the food was not served altogether. We had 1 missing plate which was not served as they misplaced the order. We were informed by the waiter that after 2 mins, they were going to get the missing plate- waited for 10mins and the plate didn’t arrive, so we cancelled the food. After being served badly, we weren’t offered something. Never going back there again!

The food and service were EXCELLENT. Very sadly there was no pizza and no focaccia available on the day we went. And I think there could be a little more effort involved for being able to provide gluten free options. All our guests really enjoyed it thank you.

Even though it was a very busy day, food shouldn't have taken 1.5 hours to get to the table. Desserts too expensive for the portion served. The menu is extensive, food is very good. I appreciated the service with a smile and also that sides are included with the mains.

The food is excellent but the service is very poor. The place is understaffed and we had to wait for a whole hour before we were served our drinks. We had to actually get up from our table and summon a waiter personally to our table...and even then we were made to wait further.

We thought only the pizza would be missing from the menu, but there were barley 13 items available. Not even Chicken breat on the menu. And we asked for the meat sauce to be on the side and they refused! Plus there was water coming out of the bathroom under all the tables. All in all the food we ordered was very good. But we have been very disappointed that they had such a tiny menu.
